Didn't Intend to J U M P
I didn't intend to jump.
I didn't intend to fall, either.
I just wanted to see a little farther, to the next city, from the pedestrian bridge over the freeway.
So I pulled off my shoes and socks, so my toes (with bits of new-sock-fuzz stuck to them) could help me scale the stiff chain link fence lining the sides of the bridge.
I got to the top and lost my breath, it was so pretty. The setting sun over the tall buildings, the brilliant splash of orange and purple
And I fell forward. I only felt that I was falling, the sharp wind snagging at my hair, the loud, very loud, honk of a horn right before a sharp SNAP and I felt myself skip
